It has been an eventful summer at Heaven Hill. Last month we announced our new Spirited Neighbor Initiative and came together as a community for the annual JAMFEST at our distillery. Now, school is back in session and recently we worked with The Descendants of the California Neighborhood organization to help set up local students for a successful school year.
On August 7, elementary, middle and high school students were invited to the Heaven Hill Distillery for a back-to-school event where new backpacks full of school supplies were provided to those in need. The back-to-school event was hosted by The Descendants of the California Neighborhood in partnership with Heaven Hill and Metro United Way. A total of 300 backpacks were distributed.
We also worked with these two partners to donate 60 additional backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need at Perry Elementary. Also, a $5,000 donation was given to Perry Elementary to fill their student/teacher resource closet with supplies for the new school year.
The Descendants of the California Neighborhood is a non-profit organization led by Mary Hall. It was formed to help the community members in the California Neighborhood in various ways. Metro United Way is a non-profit organization based in Louisville, Kentucky, and is part of the United Way Worldwide System. They identify the community’s greatest needs and help to make sustainable changes for the future.
Heaven Hill is honored to be part of amazing events like this one. We would like to give a special ‘thank you’ to Mary Hall with The Descendants of California Neighborhood, Antonio Readus with Metro United Way, and Abby Long and Mike Barry with Heaven Hill for helping with the back-to-school event in support of students in our community.
