Being a good neighbor continues to be a priority for Heaven Hill Brands. We have built strong relationships with our community stakeholders and neighbors to address inequities in West Louisville and are now developing more opportunities to serve with intention. In the past five years (2017-2022), we have invested approximately $265,000 through donations and empowered Heaven Hill Brands employees to be active in the areas where we work and live through our robust volunteer program.
Employees have eagerly participated in many ways, from filling holiday stockings donated by Heaven Hill Brands, planting trees in the yards of our neighbors, packing school bags with food for youth and fundraising for various nonprofits that benefit West Louisville, among other impactful activities. The demand from employees to connect purpose to our work is growing. We are responding by increasing the number of opportunities to engage with our partners.
We greatly value our longstanding relationships with organizations like Community Connections Group, Dare to Care, California Neighborhood Leadership Coalition, the California Community Center and Change Today Change Tomorrow. Together we have created equitable spaces and opportunities for the neighborhood to thrive, such as our annual community picnic celebration held at Bernheim Distillery, which we will now host in both spring and fall, food drives donating thousands of shares of fresh produce and turkeys, and holiday drives servicing more than 300 families.
Our partnerships are intentional – with groups and organizations that provide the California neighborhood with additional job and education resources and access to nutritious food and support those on the front lines combating social inequities.
As we look toward our future and what being a “Spirited Neighbor” means, we will continue actively listening to our neighbors, practicing transparency when communicating our efforts, and using our resources to enrich a community we proudly call our home.
